A History of Cultural Exchange and Scientific Exploration

Thesis

When Muslims explored the Iberian Peninsula, they exchanged ideas and cultures, creating a lasting civilization. The breadth of innovations created by the diverse population and the open-mindedness of Al-Andalusians revolutionized the world. During this golden age, the ideals of religious tolerance, scientific exploration, and the exchange of philosophies became the fundamentals for Andalusian society.

“Mathematics, astronomy, botany, history, philosophy, and jurisprudence were to be mastered in Spain, and Spain alone. Whatever makes a kingdom great and prosperous, whatever tends to refinement, and civilization was found in Muslim Spain.”
Stanley Lane-Poole, “The Moors in Spain
"The diverse Muslim population created a very amazing tolerance society, they provided civility and stability to the land that brought progress in science and a healthy outlook of life style so people could enjoy. As a result, it was beautiful civilization that lasted almost 800 years. They had universities, street lights, public bath, and center of learning where people all over the world came to study & learn and go back their area and that was a great accomplishment which we should try to achieve."
Dr. Abu Zayd, Islamic Scholar
